Location
Kaunas City is located in the central part of
Lithuania at the cross-road of trans-national motorways and railways
connecting North and South, West and East.
Kaunas County includes 8 municipalities: Kaunas and
Birštonas cities, Jonava, Kaunas, Kedainiai, Kaišiadorys,
Prienai and Raseiniai districts.

Business Location
The second largest city of Lithuania, industrial city
with 25% all Lithuanian industry during Soviet times and 15% nowadays.
Some kinds of industry like metal processing, machine building, radio-electronics,
which worked mainly under the orders of Defense Ministry of former
Soviet Union, have collapsed recently. Other, like textile, food and
beverage processing, IT and computer-related keep good. There are
two aviation companies in Kaunas, repairing airplanes and helicopters.
Kaunas is hub of transportation with all kinds of transport.
There is the airport with long take-off path capable for landing the
world’s biggest aircrafs. This airport has been converted from
former soviet air force base.
There is the free economic zone under development close
to the airport. The zone is operated by AOI consortium of Belgium.
All these features together with good developed engineering
infrastructure create very good opportunities for investment. There
are big plants of chemical and fertilizes production in county’s
cities Jonava and Kedainiai. There is the example of quite “exotic”
industry – the plant for building of air gliders near Prienai
City. The composite materials are in use for this purpose.
