Numerous European regions work intensively to improve
the innovation potential in their regions and to support their enterprises
in their innovation activities. Despite these efforts, only few regions
can claim for themselves to possess a distinct image as an innovative
region clearly communicating their strengths and their innovative
potential.
The determining factor for the development of such a
unique regional image are not single
innovation factors, but the interplay of these factors and the external
marketing of the regions successes.
To foster the creation of such a unique communication
position, the project STRINNOP (Strengthening the
Regional Innovation Profile) develops a thematic network of
regions. The twelve project partners will exchange experiences and
link their ongoing activities within this framework.
Their goal is to obtain a clearer innovation profile
and to create a step-by-step method for strengthening the innovation
profile in all interested regions.
In the process, the innovation activities of small
and medium enterprises (SMEs) will be strengthened, best-practice
approaches gathered in a guidebook and synergies created by combining
individual regional tools. Also, new projects between STRINNOP partners
will be initiated.
Another task for the project partners will be to experience
whether this approach can be adapted to regions from the Newly
Associated Countries. Three regions from that area are participating
in the STRINNOP programme.
By the end of the two-year project period, each region
should have improved its regional profile or developed a concept how
to imrove it.
STRINNOP Network is funded by the European Commission's
Directorate-General for Enterprise as part of the Innovation Programme
The Thematic Network STRINNOP is part of the IRE Network.
